Renewable Energy Power Plant
Under the Small Renewable Energy Programme ("SREP"), the Government of Malaysia has implemented a programme to encourage private entity to generate power with renewable fuels and to sell part or all of the power generated to Tenaga Nasional Berhad ("TNB") and Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd ("SESB"). The objectives of the SREP are not only to help increase efficiency in the use of fossil fuels but also to reduce the financial burden of electricity generation on TNB and SESB in terms of investment in electricity generation and distribution.
The subsidiary company, Mistral Engineering Sdn Bhd operates a biogas power plant that generates electricity by capturing the methane gas from POME instead of fossil fuel, thereby mitigating the emission of greenhouse gases. There is Zero discharge to the river as the final discharge is to land application through a system of drip irrigation.
